Kelly is a college freshman who has struggled with depression and is diagnosed with ADHD; during her first semester away, she performed well below where she was in highschool. She recently took a semester off in hopes of developing her self-monitoring and time-management skills. We worked together to create the following systems and develop these skills:
- An ideal weekly schedule for her time at home as well as her return to college with time set aside to accomplish her goals, meet her obligations and take care of herself.
- Weekly goal setting routines including estimates of time required to reach the goals and connecting that time with the ideal schedule.
- A simple prioritization and task tracking system that Kelly can carry out on her own.
- Clear triggers to recognize when Kelly is falling off track as well as steps to take to leverage supports when that occurs.
